


| About the Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center |

| The Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center is a 501 (c) 3 non-profit agency. This agency was established in Shelby County in April 2003. The SCCAC is a non-profit organization and is a member of the Children’s Advocacy Centers of Texas. The SCCAC provides counseling and other services to victims of molestation and child abuse and work closely with representatives from several local law enforcement agencies (including Child Protective Services, the Shelby County District Attorney’s Office, Sheriff’s Department, Center Police Department, and mental and medical health professionals) to optimize the investigation and prosecution of perpetrators. The Center also provides courtesy interviews for Sabine, Panola, San Augustine, and Nacogdoches Counties. Since its establishment, the SCCAC has assisted in investigations of nearly 300 cases of suspected abuse. The Center provides a neutral location and a comfortable, child-friendly environment where young victims can feel safe to “tell their story.” |

| Our Mission The mission of the Shelby County Children's Advocacy Center is to promote the emotional and physical healing of child abuse victims by uniting the efforts of public agencies and enlisting community support to optimize the prevention, detection, assessment, investigation, and prosecution of child abuse cases. |
